When to visit Tanzania and the cost implications
When should I visit Tanzania for my safari? Well, it is good for anyone who wants to embark on a safari adventure with Tanzania to always ask themselves this question as it also determines the price of the safari.
The dry season is also known as the high season (June to October) as this is the time to see large crowds of tourists in the various safari destinations and it is also the time to experience the great wildebeest migration. During the high season everything is hiked which makes the safari cost high. During the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti the prices of everything increase the cost of the safari and this is usually observed in July to August.
The rainy season comes with the calving of many animals and it is also the best time for bird watching. The months of April and May experience intense rainfall, resulting in many roads and national parks seeing few tourists, which is why it's known as the off-season. The low season is the best time for all tourists who are on a budget as the costs for accommodation, transport and much more are reduced.
The high season from June to October is the best time but the cost will be high.
The low season which is November, March to May has almost a 40% discount on the cost.
In the shoulder season of February, June and January there is a 20% discount on the safari cost.

For anyone wanting to spend more days but are on a budget it is best to opt for budget accommodation or try the low season when all costs are reduced and therefore most tourists take a 3 to 4 day safari around the to reduce costs. If you want to increase the number of days, you should try the following:

Choose the basic accommodation type as it will help you cut costs.
Try to travel in groups and not alone. This reduces costs so that you share the cost of the safari with the rest of the group. Note that during Covid 19 many safari companies and governments advise against group travel.
The number of people traveling. Safari costs increase if you travel alone as you cover all accommodation, park fees, guide and vehicle maintenance costs. It is therefore advisable to travel in groups in order to share the costs.
