Saanane Island National Park is a national park in Tanzania, located in Lake Victoria. It covers an area of 2.18 square kilometers and was gazetted as a national park in 2013, becoming the first ever National Park in Tanzania to be located within a city.
The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including impalas, rock hyraxes, velvet monkeys, monitor lizards, and a large number of bird species, such as the African fish eagle and Goliath heron. Visitors can enjoy activities such as nature walks, bird watching, and boat trips around the island.
The best time to visit Saanane Island National Park is during the dry season, from June to October, when the weather is cooler and there is less rainfall. During this time, wildlife is more easily spotted as they tend to congregate around water sources. However, it is important to note that Saanane Island National Park can be visited all year round, with each season offering its own unique experiences.
