Saadani National Park is a protected area located in the Pwani Region of Tanzania. It is the only wildlife sanctuary in Tanzania that is situated along the Indian Ocean, offering a unique blend of bush and beach experience. Saadani covers an area of 1,100 square kilometers and features a mix of ecosystems, including savannah grasslands, acacia woodlands, mangrove forests, and sandy beaches.
The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and antelopes, as well as a variety of primates and over 200 species of birds. The Wami River, which runs through the park, is home to large populations of hippos and crocodiles, and provides opportunities for boat safaris and fishing trips.
The best time to visit Saadani National Park is during the dry season, from June to October, when the wildlife congregates around water sources, making it easier to spot them. The park is open year-round, but the rainy season from November to May can make some areas of the park inaccessible due to flooding.
