Best time to visit Gorilla Guardians Village

The Gorilla Guardians Village is a community-based tourism initiative located in Kinigi, Rwanda, at the foothills of the Volcanoes National Park. The village offers visitors a chance to learn about the local culture and traditions of the Batwa people, who were the original inhabitants of the forest before it became a national park. Visitors can take part in various activities, including traditional dancing, basket weaving, and hunting with traditional tools. The main attraction of the Gorilla Guardians Village is the opportunity to visit a traditional Batwa home and interact with the people who live there.

The Gorilla Guardians Village can be visited year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season, from June to September and December to February. During this time, the weather is mild and dry, and the roads are easier to navigate. It is also easier to spot gorillas during this time, as they tend to stay in lower altitudes where the vegetation is greener. However, it is important to note that gorilla trekking permits are required and must be booked well in advance.
