Losirwa Camp is found on the northeastern side of Lake Manyara near the park gate. Losirwa is a local word in the Maasai language that means “Eland”. Guests will enjoy the evenings as they sit on the private balcony observing the beautiful sun set beyond the wall of the Rift Valley. Or enjoy views of numerous flamingos on the shores of the lake or the striped zebras grazing in the plains.

Losirwa Camp features beautiful, elevated luxury tents, offering sweeping breathtaking views of the soda lake – Lake Manyara and all the way down into the national park. Each of the tents is constructed using natural materials that match with the surrounding environment. Because there us no natural source of water, it is harvest and kept in tanks, while the hot water supplied in the showers is heated using solar. The rooms are Simple and quite elegantly decorated in warm colors with fashionable inside bathrooms.

There are touches of local craftsmanship everywhere, as exemplified in the woven rugs and bed frames made from African Ebony wood. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and perfect to sink into after a long day’s safari. Alternatively, guests may sit out on their private veranda in one of the wicker chairs and watch the wildlife pass by. Wildebeest, African buffalo, hyenas and zebra have been known to wander underneath the rooms, providing a close up wildlife experience.

Guests can loosen up or enjoy some cocktails near the swimming pool as the animals move by.  Losirwa is the ideal place to enjoy the true setting of this African wilderness.

A portion of the proceeds of Losirwa are dedicated to the African Nature Conservation Trust, which is a non-profit organization. Other than constructing a school plus a clinic for this local community, the other aims of this Trust are to safeguard the unique ecosystem within this Tarangire-Manyara area.

There is a restaurant that serves fresh local dishes prepared using local ingredients, freshly baked bread, vegetables plus fruits that are in season as well as various tasty home cooked dishes. In addition, There is a wide assortment of South African brand wines, local Tanzanian beers, various whiskeys and spirits plus different soft drinks as well as sodas, plus cocktails that are carefully prepared by the bartender.

Wildlife in Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara is well known for its population of tree climbing lions, despite the fact that there are other different types of wild animals you will come across here such as elephants, numerous buffaloes, several hippos, impalas, giraffes, zebras and waterbucks,   along with warthogs plus reedbucks.

The forest is swarmed with baboons, blue monkeys  in addition to vervet monkeys. Watch out for lizards especially around the banks of the river and  mongeese the in old termite-mounds and many  others.
