Best time to visit Tsavo National Park

Tsavo National Park is located in southeastern Kenya and is divided into two separate parks, Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Together, they form one of the largest national parks in Africa, covering an area of about 22,000 square kilometers.

Tsavo East is known for its red elephants, while Tsavo West is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos), giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and various antelopes. The park is also home to over 500 species of birds.

Visitors can enjoy game drives, guided walks, and bird watching in both parks, as well as other activities such as camping, hiking, and rock climbing. Some popular attractions include the Mzima Springs, a series of natural springs that are home to hippos and crocodiles, and the Shetani Lava Flows, a volcanic lava field that formed over 500 years ago.

The best time to visit Tsavo National Park is during the dry season, from June to September and from January to February, when wildlife is more easily spotted due to less foliage and concentrated around water sources. However, visitors can also enjoy the park during the wet season, from March to May and from October to December, when the park is lush and green, and migratory bird species arrive.
