Etosha National Park is renowned as one of the best game reserves in Africa, a haven for wildlife, and supports one of the most important ecological and wildlife systems on the continent. At 22,270 km sq this huge park hosts an impressive collection of game including the white rhino and endangered black rhino, lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, giraffe and numerous species of antelope as well as an impressive 340 species of birds - enough to keep any nature and wildlife enthusiast happy.
You will be collected from your guesthouse/hotels as 07:15 and brought to Chameleon Backpackers Lodge for the pre-departure talk and to meet the rest of the group. You stop briefly at Otjiwarongo to gather some last minute supplies before continuing on to Etosha with a light lunch pack whilst “on the move”. You enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park visiting waterholes looking for predators as well as zebra, giraffe, elephant, rhino and many different species of antelope arriving at your lodge just before sunset to settle into your rooms, with en-suite bathroom and tea/coffee facilities. A visit to the flood lit waterhole is highly recommend while dinner is prepared by your guide over an open fire.

Meals & Drinks:
You start your first game drive at sunrise to catch the predators while they are still active, visiting many waterholes. Your second game drive mid-morning takes you to the impressive Etosha Pan “great white place” where you can get out of the vehicle and experience this 4500sq km “saline desert” before continuing your game drive to look for the Big 4. You arrive back at Halali where your guide will prepare a delicious lunch whilst you have a dip in the pool or relax by the camp waterhole. After lunch, you begin your final game drive across the park towards Okaukuejo calling into some well-known waterholes and leave the park prior to sunset. Accommodation tonight is just outside the park in a comfortable spacious twin share rooms with a modern en-suite bathroom facilities, creating an ideal space to sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. Fantastic dinner is prepared by your guide and another early night is recommended.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and departure from your lodge is at 07h30. The route today takes you into the dramatic and beautiful scenery of Damaraland. You have the chance to meet the wonderful Herero, Himba & Damara ladies who sell their handmade arts and crafts to support their rural families. A light roadside lunch is served en-route in the shadow of Namibia's tallest mountain, the Brandberg, and you can interact with some of the colourful local characters who live in this harsh environment. On the drive down the Skeleton Coast you explore the remains of a small shipwreck arriving in Swakopmund late afternoon which gives you time to explore this quaint seaside town on foot (depending on the season). Your guide will be happy to recommend a good restaurant for your evening meal or you can join for a group meal (own expense). Overnight accommodation is in twin share rooms with en-suite bathroom.

Leisurely breakfast and the option to join one of the many optional activities available here such as: quad biking, sand boarding, scenic flight over the shipwrecks just to name a few. For those interested in birds your driver will be happy to take you to Walvis Bay to see the flamingos in the Walvis Bay lagoon which is a protected Ramsar Site for birds and a visit to Dune 7, the highest dune in the area, to experience the “sand sea” along the coastal strip. You will return to Windhoek in the afternoon with a light lunch served en-route. You make a brief stop at the Okahandja Wood Carving Markets where you can haggle for locally produced goods from the carvers themselves before being dropped at your overnight accommodation in Windhoek.
NOTE: No single travelers rates applies if you are travelling alone and are ok sharing your tent with a same sex traveller on the tour. Only if you wish to have your own tent then the single traveller rate applies.
