3-Day Chimpanzee Tracking in Gombe National Park

Day 1: Arrival & Chimpanzee Tracking in Gombe Stream

• Pick-up from Kigoma Airport or your hotel in Kigoma.

• Transfer to Kibirizi Port, where a private boat will take you across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe National Park.

• After park entry formalities, check in at Kasekela Tented Camp or Gombe Forest Lodge.

• Relax by the shores of Lake Tanganyika before enjoying a delicious lunch.

• Afternoon chimpanzee tracking adventure in the Gombe Mountains. The trek distance varies depending on the location of the primate families.

• Encounter other primates such as colobus monkeys, baboons, and red-tailed monkeys.

• Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Chimpanzee Trek & Jane Goodall Research Center Visit

• Enjoy an early breakfast at Gombe Bandas.

• Embark on another chimpanzee tracking expedition across the Gombe valleys.

• Spend up to one hour observing the chimpanzees at a safe distance (minimum 10 meters to prevent disease transmission).

• Optional hike to Jane Goodall’s Peak for panoramic views of Gombe National Park and Lake Tanganyika.

• Encounter wild pigs, forest birds, and other wildlife.

• Return to the lodge for lunch.

• Afternoon visit to the Jane Goodall Research Center, where you will learn about ongoing chimpanzee conservation efforts.

• Leisure time to enjoy the surroundings of Lake Tanganyika.

Day 3: Final Chimpanzee Trek & Return to Kigoma

• Board a private boat back to Kigoma town.

• Transfer to Kigoma Airport or your hotel.
